Light is much more intense in general although often a strong shaft of light can be observed travelling between branches and leaves starkly illuminating a section with dramatic effects.

Bright, outdoor natural light enables detailed observation of the form, colour and texture of many surfaces, including wood, metal, stones or foliage.

Water and the complex reflections on its surface really interest me, especially when the reflections are distorted by movement caused by the wind or currents.

I also love the way that the passing of time can be observed by erosion, rusting and moulding on surfaces affected by the damp or salt on a beach.
